Where are my notes stored?

Your notes are stored in a local folder on your device. You can customize your stored location everywhere using the full version for easy access.

  • Notes are saved as one file per page. The files are named using the title and then appending #1, #2, etc., for the various pages
  • Projects are folders in your file system. All the notes in the same project can be found in the same folder, which is named using the project name.
  • All notes are saved under a root folder Scribble, which can live where you like on your machine.
  • To find the store location, go to the gallery, click the … on the top right, then click Explore save folder.
  • You can use Windows File Explorer to rearrange, delete, move copy, and reorganize as you like all notes, then press Refresh in Scribble to reload the notes.
  • I recommend selecting a DropBox or OneDrive folder location so your notes are automatically backed up, and you can recover previous versions. If you use OneDrive, make sure you select the option “Always keep on this device” option for the Scribble folder (from the context menu in the file explorer)

You can view this 3-minute movie to learn more. The video was recorded on a previous app version, so the visual appearance is now slightly different, but the behavior is still the same.
